That activeX thing is because Microsoft caved into the EOLAS patent (a little too quickly in most people's opinion) and it completely screws quicktime.
I could do some geek-fu on the code, but I spend all day trying to work out ways to make Internet Explorer work like a real browser, and I can't be bothered when I'm doing my personal stuff.
